American McGee is interested in developing a sequel for Alice: Madness Returns. However he needs your help. On his Facebook page, McGee revealed his 3 step plan to make this a reality. It involves Kickstarter and negotiating with EA – to get the rights back for Alice. On Facebook, McGee reveals,
“Alice Fans, Questions for you:
1) If we could get the rights from EA, would you play “Alice 3?”
2) If you’d play “Alice 3,” would you back it on Kickstarter?
3) If you said “yes” to those two things, make some noise – I’m trying to gauge interest in case I happen to discuss this with EA during GDC in 2 weeks. The more interest there is, the more seriously they’ll take the conversation.”
McGee has been thinking about an Alice sequel for some time now as an interview conducted with Polygon on June, 2012, McGee explains his intentions;
“We have ideas and I have a whole story written up on Alice 3, and how to turn that into episodic online. It’s called Alice in Otherland and basically it would allow Alice to go into the minds of all these characters she encounters and it opens up the possibility where you could play as Alice and you can enter into a players mind change the landscape and then basically psychologically adjust the character in doing so. Imagine an MMO where the missions aren’t locations but they’re people.”
If American McGee can get the rights to Alice, he knows what direction to take the sequel into. If fans of the game are interested in aiding McGee, “make some noise” as McGee put it by sharing this photo on Facebook.
