In a recent blog post at the official EA website, Lucy Bradshaw, the general manager of the Maxis studio, acknowledges that the new SimCity game has had a rough start. The server problem began due to the mass number of people logged in to play the game, however “In the last 48 hours [EA have] increased server capacity by 120 percent.” EA also reports that the “number of disrupted experiences has dropped by roughly 80 percent,” which is a significant improvement. However some user are stilling having trouble with logging in and playing the game.

To ease some of the frustration caused due to server issues, EA plans on giving away a free download of a game from their store;  “We’re going to offer you a free PC download game from the EA portfolio.  On March 18, SimCity players who have activated their game will receive an email telling them how to redeem their free game.” Hopefully EA can fully get the game up and running like it is supposed to sooner rather than later. Customers aren’t too happy with the way the game has turned out. SimCity’s User MetaCritic rating is currently sitting at a 1.5 and Polygon has updated its SimCity review from the original 9/10 to a 4/10.

There is no word on what games EA will be offering.
